Snowy Kitten is a small cattery located in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada, established in 2008. Our focus is on breeding Siberian cats that are well-adapted to family life, with a focus on having only one or two litters at a time. Before departing for their new home, each kitten receives individual socialization, exceptional nutrition, and routine check-ups. We are the longest operating TICA-registered Siberian cattery within the Greater Vancouver area.

Our Stud

We have one stud only.

Espoo

Red Spotted Tabby Bicolour
Born November 16, 2024

In March 2025, we adopted Espoo from White Witch Cattery (CZ), who has become the only male and father of all our kittens at Snowy Kitten. His extroverted and optimistic personality makes him a joy to be around, while he is quite something to look at when his athletic frame leaps into the air after toys. While most cats need to be petted to start purring, for Espoo, just being around people and cats he likes seems to be reason enough. After all, the world is pretty purrfect, so why not show it? And, what does Espoo do when Espoo is cuddled? Just amps up the volume and throws in an adorable gurgle into his purr. As the father of all our kittens in the near future, this fellow may not have a lot of tough masculinity, but he sure knows how to make everyone feel loved.

Winnetou (retired)

Black Silver Mackerel Tabby
Born February 11, 2019

Winnetou is Artemis's and Eros's son from their last litter. In addition to hanging out with the girls, he loves getting massages and snuggling up to his human family. An athletic and intelligent tomcat, Winnetou was the sole stud in our cattery for many years, fathering many beloved pet cats. He is also the father of two of our young queens, Lada and Mokosh.

Our Queens

We adopted Calliope and Erato from Wild Taiga Cattery in Czechia in September 2024. They spent the first several months of their time in Canada living with our daughter in Toronto, where they received constant attention and care as they grew up, while serving as muses. In December 2024, they transitioned to suburban life at our cattery in Maple Ridge, enjoying our garden viewing platforms that offer bird and bug watching opportunities. Our two younger females, Lada and Mokosh, were born in our cattery to our now-retired queens, Dionysa and Freya, in March 2025. They spent the first months of their lives learning from their mother and enjoying the amenities of our cattery before transitioning to living with our other three cats.

Calliope

Brown (Black) Spotted Tabby
Born May 6, 2024

The association of curiosity with the feline species is well-evinced in Calliope, who has exhibited great interest in everything the world has to offer. Calliope is adventurous when it comes to new situations and people, which sometimes leads her into trouble with household appliances. Her favorite entertainment is watching all the weird things that humans do, ranging from being entranced by the fascinating whisking of matcha to admiring the bravery of someone standing under running water in the shower. Calliope’s favorite quote is, “An open drawer is like a portal into a world of new possibilities.”

Erato

Brown (Black) Spotted Tabby with White
Born May 6, 2024

A good massage in the morning, followed by a good day’s sleep, is very important to Erato. She diligently obeys household rules, staying off countertops and out of the dishwasher, which is much appreciated. Yet, this sleeping ball of fluff knows all the moves when a laser pointer makes its way across the floor, becoming the embodiment of skill and athleticism, zooming from left to right, up and down, and even making sideways lunges. Of course, after all of this exertion, a good massage and cuddle are again the best thing.

Lada

Brown (Black) Spotted Tabby Bicolour
Born March 15, 2025

In Slavic myth, Lada is the goddess of love and harmony, which has proved a well-suited name for this feline. While Lada is a lioness in spirit, it is not for her fierceness, but for her belief that cats were never meant to be solitary creatures. Inheriting her mother Dionysa’s gregarious personality, Lada has become close friends with all our other cats. She is often found rolling on the floor to indicate that a belly rub is in order or in the middle of her cuddle buddy pride. To see Lada’s kitten photos, please look at Pippi (prior name) in the Pippi Longstocking litter.

Mokosh

Black Silver Mackerel Tabby
Born March 14, 2025

Mokosh is the Slavic goddess of earth, fertility, and moisture. While this avid bird and bug watcher agrees that her association with the earth is on point, she feels the inclination towards moisture is not quite there yet. A very dignified young lady, Mokosh’s elegant gaze makes it clear that her position and that of everyone else cannot possibly be equal, even if pets and cuddles are often requested from her humans. She is a calm and refined cat, exhibiting an easy-going grace, and loves posing for photos. However, when a bird or bug is present, all her refinement goes out the window (or rather, dashes out onto the catio). To see Mokosh’s kitten photos, please look at Pony in the Emil and The Detectives litter.

Dionysa (retired)

Black Spotted Tabby Bicolour
Born May 23, 2020

Dionysa came to us with her sister, Freya, in September 2021 from the Czech Republic. We decided to name her after the Greek God of pleasure because she enjoys all the best things in life. Dionysa likes to eat, sleep, and, most of all, be petted. Dionysa is the mother of Lada, a new queen in our cattery, who inherited her easy-going personality.

Freya (retired)

Black Tortie Silver Spotted Tabby Bicolor
Born May 23, 2020

Freya (Holly Wild Taiga of Snowykitten), along with her sister Dionysa, came to our family in 2021. She has an outgoing, spirited personality and is curious and adventurous. Her favourite activities are watching the outdoors from our balcony enclosure and spending time with her sister. She is the mother of Mokosh, one of our current queens (see above).

Waitlist

We keep a merged waitlist for all queens.

We expect two litters in Spring 2026.

Image

Getting on the waitlist is a good idea, as we let people choose their kitten based on their position on the waitlist. When you request to be put on our waitlist, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire that will help us provide any guidance (if needed) to select your kitten when the time comes. You will also be required to acknowledge some of the basic stipulations of our contract so that we can ensure that your home will be suitable for one of our kittens (we only sell cats under the condition that they will be kept indoors for their health and safety, your household should ideally not have excessive noise that can cause stress for cats, we prohibit declawing as this causes excessive pain, etc.). To be placed on the waitlist, we require a fully refundable deposit of $75 per kitten; if at any point you decide to be removed from the waitlist, we will refund the deposit. Before requesting to be put on the waitlist, please read through the conditions below. You are welcome to contact us at snowykittencattery@gmail.com.

Waitlist Conditions

  1. POSITION ON THE WAITLIST: By being placed on the waitlist you obtain a position that determines an order in which you can choose your kitten(s) from those that are available.

  2. WAITLIST SIZE: As we cannot predict the number of kittens in the next litter, we cannot guarantee that by being placed on the waitlist there will be a guaranteed kitten for you. However, with a typical litter being 4-5 kittens, you have to decide whether you want to be put on the waitlist or not. Typically, when we have kittens, some people on the waitlist decide to drop and some pass on selecting a kitten in a particular litter. As a result, we typically go much further down the waitlist than the number of kittens we have.

  3. REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT: To be placed on the waitlist we take a fully refundable deposit of $75 per kitten. If you at any point decide to be taken out of the waitlist we will refund the deposit.

  4. BREEDER’s PRIORITY: The breeder reserves the right to select a kitten to be kept for breeding before waitlisted people will be let to select their kittens.

  5. SELECTING A KITTEN: Once kittens are born you will be notified. At the age of 6-8 weeks you will be asked to select a kitten (in the order on the waitlist after applying Breeder’s Priority clause). At this point you can decide either:
    1. to adopt one: you will be asked to pay a non-refundable reservation fee of $250 (your waitlisting fee applies towards the reservation fee so you are asked to pay an additional $175); or
    2. You may pass once. The next time you are asked whether you would like to adopt a kitten (if more than three months has gone by since you had decided to pass), you can either choose to adopt, or you will be removed from the waitlist.
    3. to drop from the waitlist; we will refund your $75 waitlisting fee.

If all kittens have been selected, the remaining people on the waitlist all move up in order and wait for the next litter.

  6. FINAL PURCHASE: If you decided to adopt a kitten, at this point you will be asked to sign the CONTRACT. The remaining portion of a kitten price has to be paid in full before kittens are 12 weeks old. Kittens go to their new homes at the age of 14-16 weeks. They will be spayed or neutered, and will have two rounds of vaccinations.

  7. TRANSPORTATION: After making a transportation arrangement, you will be asked to pay the cost of transportation, which may include air travel (typically above $200), transportation crate cost (cca $50, you keep and use the crate afterwards), any extra veterinarian certificates needed for the travel/customs/etc. All the costs must be paid before the kitten is shipped to your home. In the case of pickup from our cattery, there are no transportation costs.
Note: to get an idea of how much the air transport costs check Air Canada Cargo pricing or Westjet Cargo. We are shipping from YVR. We can ship with other airlines if this is preferable because of a direct connection.
