Snowy Kitten is a small cattery in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. We bought our first Siberian female, Elza in December 2008 and have been breeding ever since. Our focus is on having a small number of cats, and we currently have only two females and a male in our home.

Siberians are a natural breed whose luxurious winter coats and wild demeanor make them look right at home in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to the breeds' beauty, one of our main reasons for breeding Siberians is their lesser triggering of people with cat allergies, which has helped some of our own family members and those adopting our kittens enjoy having a cat in their lives.

As a small cattery, we never have more than one or two litters at a time, thus having enough time to ensure that each kitten has a lot of attention and is properly socialized. Our goal is to raise healthy and friendly kittens that make happy additions to their new families. Our female Artemis, as a kitten, right.

Our Stud

We have one stud only.

Winnetou

Black Silver Mackerel Tabby
Born February 11, 2019

Winnetou is Artemis's and Eros's son from their last litter. An athletic and intelligent tom cat, Winnetou is now the sole stud in our cattery and the father of all our litters. In addition to hanging out with the girls, he loves getting massages and snuggling up to his human family.

Eros (retired)

Black Silver Spotted Tabby with White

TICA Champion
TICA Best Black Silver Spotted Tabby With White Siberian of The Year (2012)

Eros had been the father of all our litters for many years, passing his amazing temperament onto future generations. After Eros retired, his son, Winnetou, had taken over the family business and became our new stud. Like our first queen Elza, Eros came from Wild Taiga Cattery.

Our Queens

We have two breeding females.

Dionysa

Black Spotted Tabby Bicolour
Born May 23, 2020

Dionysa (Honey Wild Taiga of Snowykitten) came to us with her sister, Freya, in September 2021 from the Czech Republic. We decided to name her after the Greek God of pleasure because she enjoys all the best things in life. Dionysa likes to eat, sleep, and, most of all, be petted.

Waitlist

We keep a merged waitlist for all queens.

We expect Freya and Dionyza will have their next litters in Spring 2025.

Getting on the waitlist is a good idea, as we let people choose their kitten based on their position on the waitlist. When you request to be put on our waitlist, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire that will help us provide any guidance (if needed) to select your kitten when the time comes. You will also be required to acknowledge some of the basic stipulations of our contract so that we can ensure that your home will be suitable for one of our kittens (we only sell cats under the condition that they will be kept indoors for their health and safety, your household should ideally not have excessive noise that can cause stress for cats, we prohibit declawing as this causes excessive pain, etc.). To be placed on the waitlist, we require a fully refundable deposit of $75 per kitten; if at any point you decide to be removed from the waitlist, we will refund the deposit. Before requesting to be put on the waitlist, please read through the conditions below. You are welcome to contact us at snowykittencattery@gmail.com.

Waitlist Conditions

  1. POSITION ON THE WAITLIST: By being placed on the waitlist you obtain a position that determines an order in which you can choose your kitten(s) from those that are available.

  2. WAITLIST SIZE: As we cannot predict the number of kittens in the next litter, we cannot guarantee that by being placed on the waitlist there will be a guaranteed kitten for you. However, with a typical litter being 4-5 kittens, you have to decide whether you want to be put on the waitlist or not. Typically, when we have kittens, some people on the waitlist decide to drop and some pass on selecting a kitten in a particular litter. As a result, we typically go much further down the waitlist than the number of kittens we have.

  3. REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT: To be placed on the waitlist we take a fully refundable deposit of $75 per kitten. If you at any point decide to be taken out of the waitlist we will refund the deposit.

  4. BREEDER’s PRIORITY: The breeder reserves the right to select a kitten to be kept for breeding before waitlisted people will be let to select their kittens.

  5. SELECTING A KITTEN: Once kittens are born you will be notified. At the age of 6-8 weeks you will be asked to select a kitten (in the order on the waitlist after applying Breeder’s Priority clause). At this point you can decide either:
    1. to adopt one: you will be asked to pay a non-refundable reservation fee of $250 (your waitlisting fee applies towards the reservation fee so you are asked to pay an additional $175); or
    2. You may pass once. The next time you are asked whether you would like to adopt a kitten (if more than three months has gone by since you had decided to pass), you can either choose to adopt, or you will be removed from the waitlist.
    3. to drop from the waitlist; we will refund your $75 waitlisting fee.

If all kittens have been selected, the remaining people on the waitlist all move up in order and wait for the next litter.

  6. FINAL PURCHASE: If you decided to adopt a kitten, at this point you will be asked to sign the CONTRACT. The remaining portion of a kitten price has to be paid in full before kittens are 12 weeks old. Kittens go to their new homes at the age of 14-16 weeks. They will be spayed or neutered, and will have two rounds of vaccinations.

  7. TRANSPORTATION: After making a transportation arrangement, you will be asked to pay the cost of transportation, which may include air travel (typically above $200), transportation crate cost (cca $50, you keep and use the crate afterwards), any extra veterinarian certificates needed for the travel/customs/etc. All the costs must be paid before the kitten is shipped to your home. In the case of pickup from our cattery, there are no transportation costs.
Note: to get an idea of how much the air transport costs check Air Canada Cargo pricing or Westjet Cargo. We are shipping from YVR. We can ship with other airlines if this is preferable because of a direct connection.
